Linda Wirt, the artist behind Creating with CLASS, is a lifelong creator whose work reflects both skill & creative expression. Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley & a Delaware resident for the past 30 years, Linda has spent her life exploring the beauty of handmade crafts.

Inspiration Sources

Working across mediums including paper, yarn, fabric, glass, and clay has shaped Linda’s creative perspective, but ceramics remain her greatest passion. She finds inspiration in natural textures, organic forms, and the excitement of experimentation, creating pieces that balance artistic expression with everyday functionality.

Craftsmanship

Every ceramic piece is individually handcrafted with patience, intention, and attention to detail. Linda embraces the unique character created through gas, soda, and Raku firing techniques, where the unpredictable nature of the kiln contributes to the individuality of each finished work.

Continue the Journey

Linda continues to explore new glaze combinations, firing techniques, and creative ideas that push her work in exciting directions. Her goal is to create timeless pieces that celebrate the beauty of handmade artistry. She strives to create meaningful works that bring creativity, connection, and inspiration into everyday spaces.

Teaching & Workshops

Sharing the creative process is just as rewarding as creating the work itself. As a featured visiting artist, Linda has taught ceramics in studios throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, encouraging artists of all experience levels to discover the joy and confidence that comes from creating by hand.

Can I commission a custom piece?

Absolutely! I welcome custom commissions and love collaborating with clients to bring their ideas to life. If you have a specific design or vision in mind, I’d be happy to discuss it with you during a personal consultation. Together, we’ll create a unique piece that reflects your style and needs.

Because each item is handcrafted from start to finish, please allow approximately 3–4 weeks from the time of your consultation for the creative process, production, glazing, and kiln firing. This ensures every piece receives the care and attention it deserves.

How do I care for my ceramics?

Each piece is handcrafted with care and designed to last.Although the clay and glazes I use are durable, I recommend hand washing your pottery to best preserve the handcrafted finish and keep it looking beautiful for years to come. Use a soft sponge or cloth, avoid abrasive cleaners and sudden temperature changes, and dry thoroughly before storing. If using your piece in the oven, always place it in a preheated oven and never put cold pottery into a hot oven.

How do you create your ceramic pieces?

Every piece is handcrafted using the slab-building technique—no pottery wheel is used. I begin by rolling and shaping slabs of clay, then carefully assemble each piece by hand. After drying, every item is bisque fired, glazed, and fired again to create a beautiful, functional, and durable finished piece. Combining traditional hand-building techniques with modern designs ensures that each creation is truly one of a kind, with its own unique character and charm.

Do you ship your pottery?

Not at this time. I’m currently focused on creating and selling my handcrafted pottery locally. Pieces can be purchased at the events I attend or picked up directly from my studio by appointment. I hope to expand to shipping in the future, and I’ll be sure to share that exciting news when the time comes!
